Brand signs must be clean, attractive, and professional looking.

Remove unauthorized signs and outdated promotions.

Lawn and landscaping should be free of dead plants, weeds, trash, and litter.

The curbs should always look as though they have been freshly painted.

Dispensers must be especially clean and the pavement around them clean and without oil spills.

Upon entering the store, all sections should be visible and recognizable so that the customer can easily move toward the products he wants.

---

Aisles must be clear and easy for the customer to walk in.

---

Merchandise should have a fresh look. Get rid of shop worn merchandise.

---

Hooks and bins must not be empty.

---

Drinks must be moved toward the front of the racks with labels facing neatly outward.

---

Check-out counter should be uncluttered. Most C-stores have too many counter-top displays at the check-out counters.

---

Are cashiers courteous? Do they seem to be aware that their treatment of the customer is an important factor in the customer's decision whether to return.

---

Are all displayed certificates and permits current?

---

Verify that at least the following certificates/permits are displayed:

1. Health
2. Beer/Wine/Alcoholic Beverages
3. Tobacco products, state and/or county
4. Tobacco products, U.S. ATF license
5. Sales tax certificates
6. unique local permits
