Plan your life and work your plan
- Walk store and be sure it is to acceptable standards. Check for "out of order" and "out of stocks" and cure.
- Inspect deli and coffee bar to be sure it is merchandised properly and proper food is up.
- Open your day planner and work your plan. Come up with ideas to increase revenue!
- Complete daily folder, including auditing cashier's reports and posting over/shorts.
- Review vendor schedule and round up credits.
- Review sales and department numbers, gas pricing.
- Complete inventory management on beer and cigs. Maintain log books.
- Balance all checkbooks and pay bills on a weekly basis.
- Update with your assistant manager.
- Review last night's "afternoon shiftwalks."
- Fill out employee communication log if needed.
- Contact vendors and make other phone calls. Write down communications in your contact log.
- Go to bank. Load safe and record deposits.
- Be sure merchandise is priced and displayed properly.
- Inspect entire property for concerns and cleanliness. Take a notepad with you.
- Make notes to complete today's plan and start tomorrow's plan!
- Put today's notes in daily folder for review.
- At end of the day, turn off cooler and storage lights, TV monitor, and turn on answering service.
- Take your day planner home and refine your plan!
- Plan what your day is going to be and do not let the day plan what you're going to be!
- Be proactive, not reactive.
- Say what your expectations are and insure that someone takes responsibility to make it happen.
- Create a positive, encouraging environment.
- Do not compromise your character, do what is right and fair.
- Employees want leaders worth following and then they will trust you.
- Develop your people; they are the key to your success.
